The race-winning Acura NSX GT3 race car will be offered for sale around the world ahead of the 2018 racing season, it was announced by Acura, Honda Performance Development and Honda R&D.  The exposed carbon, race-ready NSX GT3 is offered for sale at a starting price of €465,0001.

Development began in Japan and Europe, where the first NSX GT3 was built and prepped for testing on their legendary race circuits. From there, it moved to Santa Clarita, California – headquarters of our North American race engineering group – for further development and final testing.

Upon homologation (FIA certification that all required racing modifications have been met), the NSX will chase the North American GT3 title with the 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 NSX engine, modified to meet current FIA requirements.

The production-based 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 racing engines are built alongside their production-vehicle counterparts at the Anna Engine Plant in Anna, Ohio4.  The racing engine uses the same design specifications as the production NSX, including the block, heads, valve train, crankshaft, pistons and dry-sump lubrication system.  A six-speed, sequential-shift racing gearbox delivers power to the NSX GT3’s rear wheels.  Final assembly is completed at JAS Motorsport in Italy.

The origin of the Velar name dates back to the first Range Rover prototypes of the Sixties, the development engineers needed to hide the true identity of the 26 pre-production Range Rover vehicles, they chose the name Velar, derived from the Latin ‘velare’ meaning to veil or cover.

Land Rover Chief Design Officer, Gerry McGovern, said: “We call the Velar the avant-garde Range Rover.  It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand. The Range Rover Velar changes everything.”

Built on Jaguar iQ[AI] (D7a) platform, the Range Rover Velar shares a number of components with the Jaguar F-Pace, XF, and XE models, notably its aluminium platform and 2,874 mm (113.1 in) wheelbase. The Velar is built at the same factory in Solihull. However, the Range Rover is 72 mm (2.8 in) longer than the F-Pace.
